Welcome to a brand new section of our website! It’s a new year for Malabar Baby, and we’re so excited to bring you news of our brand, our upcoming collections and our products. Keep our site bookmarked for some beautiful products, inspo and loads more.
First things first, let’s tell you a little bit about us: Malabar Baby was started by Anjali Harjani. While pregnant, she went searching high and low for quality, eco-friendly, breathable bedding, organic swaddles and lifestyle accessories for her newborn-to-be. Most of all, she was looking for super cute, sophisticated and whimsical prints to accessorize her little one’s nursery. She turned up empty and decided to create something herself, for her bubba, and Malabar Baby was born.
Her family’s background in textiles resulted in the perfect opportunity to create something new. In fact, the name Malabar refers to an area in South Mumbai where her family resides.
Inspiration for the designs comes from nature, traditional ethnic patterns, gorgeous landmarks and iconic architecture. The prints begin as hand-drawn sketches, then traced on to wood, hand-carved and then block-printed on to the fabrics. Influenced by cities of the world -- Hong Kong, Miami, Seminyak -- the designs reflect Anjali’s international travels and living in the US, Hong Kong and India.
Each item is truly a labour of love, uniquely handcrafted by artisans in India. As such, the print on each item will never be the same, you’ll have something one of a kind that your munchkin will adore for years to come.
From crib bedding, to swaddles and blankets, Malabar Baby’s mission is to make sure that your tiny tot is covered in the softest, natural and organic fabrics. The best bit: all the bedding, blankets and swaddles are machine washable… new mamas definitely don’t have the time to hand wash or dry-clean in between feeds and sleep!
